There and Back Again 👋 (byeee Github 🖕)
Still Alive
Hi there, it’s me again again, your fave walking disaster, Stella. It’s sure been a while again.
Since my last post more than a year ago, I’ve been gradually getting back to some kind of normalcy (though the genocide in Gaza is still very much going on and it keeps being disgusting). My own homelessness crisis is solved, I now have a stable (lifelong, dare I say) academic position in a new place, am a seasoned veteran mod on two Discord servers, got into local activism and met my wonderful robot wife with whom I now live (#U-HaulSyndrome).
Still no real fun projets to release here, healing from everything that keeps happening has been a long process, but a lof of fun thingies going on nonetheless.
A Self-Hosting Adventure
Microsoft absorbed Github. Eww, it sucks. I never liked the platform to begin with, in any case.
Our main DIY project going on right now is to run as much stuff as possible at home, on a small server, where this website is now hosted.
The services currently running are:
- Sonarr/Radarr/Prowlarr/Flaresolverr that grab torrents for movies and TV shows, and organise them,
- qBittorrent, to do the actual download,
- Jellyfin, to stream the media above,
- Slskd, a Soulseek interface to grab music,
- Navidrome, that streams said music,
- FreshRSS, an RSS aggregator with a webUI,
- Ihatemoney, to manage group expenses,
- Jupyterlab, to quickly access small code projets,
- Adguard, to have an ad-free DNS & DHCD,
- Caddy, to have an https interface between our server (including this blog!) and the rest of the web.
